Prototyping and Content Creation is a class I took at Full Sail University. This class was focused around creating a prototype within a 4 weeks sprint. The prototype assignment came with its constraints such as basic game-play, mechanics, levels and audio (if possible). This assignment was a team based one, where all the students in the class had to function as one whole team. We were a team of 14 people, which consisted of 4 game/level designer, 2 producers, 4 artists, 2 developers, 1 marketing and PR and 1 QA.
I had a lot to take back from this class with regards to working with a multicultural team where all team members came from different countries, industries and backgrounds but with a common goal of working on games. This was a good learning experience, where we faced the ups and downs, communication barriers, conflicts and all sorts of complications. However, we did deliver two prototypes instead of just one at the end of the class. My major take away from this class was understanding human (team mates) behavior and how to cater to their needs as well as my own without conflict which could have an impact on productivity. This exercise helped me understand my team mates and their perspective which helped me provide solutions and feedback on the project.
